Favourite Lip Products

Well it’s official, schedules and I do not work, so for the time being I’m going to post when the inspiration hits me. I’ll still be posting weekly but some weeks may have more posts than others. This is meant to be fun so I’m not going to turn it into a job.

This post is about my favourite lip products. I don’t have that many products because lipsticks in Australia tend to be really expensive and I always seem to gravitate towards eye products and foundation/tinted moisturisers but there are a few that I love and wear a lot. I also included one in here that I don’t use so often but love anyway. So here they are…

  1. ChaCha Tint by Benefit Cosmetics
  2. Pink Sand 005 by Maybelline
  3. Juicy Bubblegum 140 Colorsensational by Maybelline
  4. Alarm 170 Lasting Finish Lipstick by Rimmel
  5. Sunset Peach 516C by Wet n Wild
  6. Salsa Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick by Austalis
  7. Strawberry Lip Health Chapstick
  8. Vanilla Cupcake Flavoured Lipbalm by Peter Alexander

I swatched the colours on my arm to give you an idea of what they looked like but I did them a bit out of order so I’ve kept the numbers the same. Obviously I didn’t swatch the lipbalms because they have no colour so theirs really no point.

CHACHA TINT By Benefit Cosmetics

This is by far my favourite product of the lot. It’s a stain so it lasts a long time and it really helps to even out the tone of my lips. It can also be built up to a really bright coral colour like in the swatch. I don’t find that it dries out my lips that much either which is pretty awesome. It can be used as a liquid blush as well but I rarely use it for that. The bottle is 12.5 mls or 0.45 fl. Oz which is a pretty good amount. The only downside and the reason I will not be purchasing this product when it runs out or dries up is the price. $55 is WAY too expensive for any makeup in my opinion and I cannot for the life of me remember my justification for buying it.

PINK SAND 005 by Maybelline

This is such a pretty sheer pink colour and I probably wear it the most of all of my lipsticks. I use it over my lip stains like some people use a lip gloss (I personally do not like lip glosses which is why none of them are in this list) to give it a really pretty sheen. It has a lot of sparkle in it which I really like. It is so creamy that it feels like I’m wearing a lip balm when I put it on. It unfortunately doesn’t really work that well on its own because the colour is so sheer. It costs $16.95

JUICY BUBBLEGUM 140 Colorsensational by Maybelline

This one is a really nice and flattering light pink and has the same moisturising, creamy consistency of Pink Sand. This one is a lot thicker than Pink Sand and covers more. I often where Pink Sand over the top to add a little more glitter. This one costs the same as Pink Sand, $16.95.

ALARM 170 Lasting Finish Lipstick by Rimmel

This is the only red lipstick that I own and it’s such a nice red. It has a pink undertone which I think looks best on me. This red lasts for so long which is convenient considering the name. I put a red lip liner underneath it to stop it from bleeding. I don’t wear this colour that often because red is a really hard colour to wear everyday and takes more effort to wear than I can usually be bothered with but I really love the colour. It cost $9.95 so if your looking for a nice and cheap lipstick I would recommend taking a look at Rimmel.

SUNSET PEACH 516C by Wet n Wild

This is my favourite coral lipstick. It goes on really smooth and feels very moisturising and the colour is so beautiful. It’s not a bold lipstick but it definitely can be seen. It has a pretty shimmer to it but isn’t overpowering. Wet n Wild is an American brand which you can’t get in stores in Australia as far as I’ve found but I bought this on crushcosmetics.com.au for $4.95 which is crazy cheap in my opinion. Crush Cosmetics is a central coast NSW online store and they do post through Australia Post so postage is around $9.

SALSA Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick by Austalis

I’m a big fan of Australis lipsticks. I usually avoid mineral makeup because my skin has a weird tendency to react to it (don’t ask me why, I thought it was meant to be better for your skin but mine hates mineral makeup) but this one seems fine. This is one of my bolder lip colours which I wear pretty often. It’s a really bright hot pink colour which really compliments my skin tone but is fun at the same time. Australis can be bought at priceline, BigW, Kmart, Target and their online store and probably most other places that sell cosmetics for cheap. This one costs $12.99.

STRAWBERRY Lip Health Chapstick

This is another American brand but this one I think you can buy at coles now. I got mine in my BellaBox which for those of you who don’t know is a $15 a month subscription which sends you a little box of samples and sometimes full sized items as well (I’m due to get mine next week hopefully so I’ll give a little review of it then). This one costs $3.99 on the bella box website. It says that it tastes like strawberries but I’m not so sure (nobody ever gets the flavour right anyway) but it definitely smells like strawberry and it is by far the best lip balm I have ever used. Its super moisturising (yes super) and doesn’t rub off as soon as you lick your lips which gives it a jump on the competition right there. For a really good lip balm its nicely priced too.

VANILLA CUPCAKE Flavoured Lipbalm by Peter Alexander

This one claims to taste like vanilla cupcake and it does. It’s so sweet. This one is not nearly as good as the chapstick but I do tend to use it more because of the smell and the taste. It rubs off a lot sooner but that just gives me an excuse to put it on again. This one was $4.90 and I bought it from the Peter Alexander store but you can also buy it online.

And there you have it, my favourite (for the moment) lip products. This list is a little long for a blog post but I think I gave you a nice description of each of them. So what’s your favourite lip products?
